Tavar Eggebracht is quartermaster of the Nilfgaardian Army Group Center camp in Velen and a cousin of Colonel Tibor Eggebracht. He likes order, at least on paper. Oddly for a Nilfgaardian, he plays gwent with a Northern Realms deck.
In The Witcher 3
Tavar is the man who pays out Nilfgaardian contracts, and he refuses to haggle, since his ledgers must balance. Look closer, though, and his tidy books hide ugly truths:
- In Blood Ties, a bribe gets him to admit that a group of soldiers tried to desert. The ones who were caught were hanged, and rather than spend resources chasing the rest into the swamps, he simply wrote them all down as dead.
- In Contract: Patrol Gone Missing, Geralt learns the patrol was taking Redanian prisoners into the swamps to kill them. Tavar calls it an honorable death, as the army cannot afford to feed them.
