Contract: Patrol Gone Missing is a witcher contract in Velen. People who stray from the paths through the bogs rarely come back, and even the Nilfgaardian soldiers of the Army Group Center camp sometimes disappear without a trace. After another patrol fails to return, the camp’s quartermaster, Eggebracht, posts a request for someone to find them, or at least find out what happened.
Geralt follows the patrol’s route east of the crossroads, past wolves, nekkers and the occasional bandit, and finds the remains of the soldiers. The culprit is a wyvern, a flying draconid that picked off the patrol one by one. The contract can also begin if Geralt stumbles on the patrol’s remains before talking to Eggebracht.
Wyverns are fast and poisonous, so Draconid oil, Grapeshot and the Aard sign to bring them down help a lot. When Geralt returns to the camp with the news, he can accept the quartermaster’s payment or refuse it, which earns a little more XP.
