A Walk on the Waterfront

A man attacked by bandits in Harborside asks Geralt to escort him along the docks, and every gang on the way seems to know he is coming.

Overview

A Walk on the Waterfront is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, set in Harborside, Novigrad, near the water wheel east of the Novigrad Docks. It is proximity based and easy to lose: if you walk away, it disappears. It also becomes unavailable once you reach the witch hunter outpost in Count Reuven’s Treasure, when its events play out in the background.

The escort

Bandits are beating a man named Ginter de Lavirac. If Geralt does not step in, they kill him. Once saved, Ginter asks Geralt to “take a stroll” with him down the port. Backing out of the conversation ends the quest.

On the way, group after group of bandits attack, and all of them seem to know exactly who Ginter is and where he is going. Keep him alive, since the quest fails if he dies.

The deal

At the destination the truth comes out. Ginter is a fisstech dealer on his way to meet his suppliers. When the negotiations turn tense, Geralt can back Ginter, and the suppliers accept his price. Or Geralt can step aside, and the suppliers kill Ginter. The reward is the same either way.
