At a Crossroads: Scoia’tael

At a Crossroads: Scoia’tael is the Iorveth half of the decision that closes Chapter 1 of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings in Flotsam. Right after Cedric’s death during Where is Triss Merigold?, Zoltan and Dandelion catch up with Geralt, and Zoltan, never one to hide his soft spot for the elves, urges him to hear out the Scoia’tael before committing to Vernon Roche.

The meeting takes place in the elven ruins. If Geralt helped Iorveth earlier in The Assassins of Kings, the elf is waiting there himself; if Iorveth was captured, only Zoltan shows up. Either way, the plan is to free Iorveth or his people and sail for Vergen in Aedirn. Siding with the Scoia’tael leads into The Floating Prison and sets up the Iorveth path for Chapter 2, while picking Roche fails this quest.

Walkthrough

  1. Go to the spot where Cedric died; Zoltan and Dandelion come running to meet you.
  2. Head to the elven ruins outside Flotsam to meet Zoltan, plus Iorveth if he was not captured earlier.
  3. Discuss the plan to free Iorveth (or the Scoia’tael prisoners) and sail for Vergen. You do not have to decide on the spot.
  4. Commit to the Scoia’tael to complete the quest and start The Floating Prison.

Quest Consequences & Choices

  • Side with the Scoia’tael: this quest completes, At a Crossroads: Vernon Roche fails, and Chapter 2 follows Iorveth to Vergen.
  • Side with Roche: this quest fails and the Roche path begins with Death to the Traitor!
  • Whether Iorveth is at the ruins depends on whether you helped him in The Assassins of Kings.
