Overview
Fools’ Gold is a secondary quest in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, added as one of the free DLCs in June 2015. It is set in Lurtch, in the Descent area of Velen. A level 12 nekker warrior shows up along the way, so do not attempt it too early.
Pig roast
Just southeast of the Lurtch signpost, three bandits are roasting a hog and offer Geralt a slice. Yontek, the village fool, runs up crying that they are about to eat Yagoda. When the bandits turn on him, tell them to back off. Walking away here means the quest never starts. After the fight, Yontek explains that the other villagers were taken by “piggy magic”, and Witcher Senses confirm that the pigs in the huts really are enchanted.
The pig temple
Yontek hands over a key to a “hog hut”, a cave between Reardon Manor and Toderas. Bandits hold the cave. The Enhanced Feline steel sword diagram is hidden there too. The key turns a door into a passage to a hidden temple with great pig statues and an empty pedestal that once held gold. A lone pig there is Igor, the missing herbalist, but he is not much help as a pig.
Lifting the curse
Back in the village, Geralt drives off wolves, and Yontek admits he escaped the curse only because he did not go with the others, and that he knows where the gold is. While Yontek fetches it, Geralt uses Axii to herd one pig from each hut toward the temple, fighting nekkers and a nekker warrior on the way. At Mowshurst the gold is returned and the villagers turn human again.
They immediately blame Yontek. Geralt can step aside and let them hang him, for which they pay, or defend him, and they back off.
