Her Highness the Striga

Her Highness the Striga is a main quest that begins at the start of Act V of The Witcher and wraps up when Geralt reports to King Foltest in the Epilogue. It moves through the Castle, Old Vizima, the swamp cemetery and the Old Manor. Princess Adda has turned into a striga again, and Foltest wants Geralt to lift the curse if he can, and kill her only if he must, after hearing out Triss, Velerad and De Wett.

Foltest won’t hold it against Geralt if Adda has to die, but the others pull in different directions: De Wett hints at a reward for killing the striga, while Velerad rewards Geralt with the sword D’yaebl if Adda is saved. The hunt leads from a false sighting at a tower to a chapel in the swamp cemetery where Adda sleeps by day. In her sarcophagus Geralt finds the journal of Ostrit, who cursed her the first time, proof that someone renewed the curse on purpose. That someone turns out to be De Wett, whom Geralt must kill at the Old Manor.

Walkthrough

  1. Speak with King Foltest at the Castle, then with De Wett, Triss and Velerad in the throne room, and wait for the chamberlain to summon you back to the king.
  2. In Old Vizima, talk to the soldier at the hospital, who leads you to the tower; kill the mutant you find there instead of a striga. Kalkstein sends you on to the chapel in the swamp cemetery.
  3. At the chapel, hear the desperate father out and talk to Velerad. Save here: you cannot leave until the quest is resolved.
  4. Loot Adda’s sarcophagus in the large southern chamber for Ostrit’s journal.
  5. Wait for Adda to appear at dusk (meditate at the campfire if needed), then kill or cure her.
  6. Report to Velerad outside the chapel.
  7. Go to the Old Manor, where De Wett gives himself away; kill him and loot his salamander brooch and experiment notes.
  8. Report to Foltest at the start of the Epilogue to finish the quest.

Quest Consequences & Choices

  • Kill Adda: silver sword and strong style do the job. Her heart can be used to brew Striga’s Urge, and Foltest does not hold it against you.
  • Cure Adda: survive in the sarcophagus room until dawn breaks the curse (running in circles works). Adda thanks you, returns in the Epilogue, and Velerad gives you the steel sword D’yaebl.
