The Incident at White Orchard

A tavern brawl in White Orchard ends with two witchers drawing their swords, and one very unimpressed innkeeper.

The Incident at White Orchard is one of the shortest main quests in The Witcher 3, but it says a lot about the world Geralt lives in. While searching for Yennefer, Geralt and Vesemir stop at the White Orchard inn. A row breaks out, and Vesemir steps in to defend the innkeeper. Instead of calming things down, he makes them worse, and the witchers are forced to draw their steel swords.

The fight against the local troublemakers is over quickly, because a handful of angry thugs are no match for two witchers. The irony is in the ending: the innkeeper they tried to protect is horrified by the bloodshed and throws her rescuers out. It is a neat little reminder that witchers are supposed to stay neutral, and that people rarely thank them when they do not.
