A Gravedigger’s Gratitude is a secondary quest in Act II of The Witcher, part of the Vizima Confidential investigation in the Temple Quarter. The gravedigger, usually found hammering coffins outside the cemetery gates, knows a lot about who dies in this city and suspects the graveyard holds clues. He will not let anyone in without a permit from Captain Vincent Meis, though Thaler, who holds his debts, could also smooth things over.
Neither man will help until you have cleared him of working with the Salamandra, so this quest tends to come late in the act. Inside the cemetery, past a crowd of ghouls, Geralt finds the body of the real detective Raymond. It proves that Azar Javed killed Raymond and has been wearing his face, which is one of the ways to uncover the full truth of Act II.
