Lobinden
Lobinden is a small village built right up against the walls of the Flotsam trading post in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. It is said to have been founded long ago by settlers from Aedirn, though that history matters little to the people living there now.
Compared with Flotsam, Lobinden is a quiet backwater, but the two settlements need each other. Most of the area’s fishermen, boat builders, tar makers and hunters live in the village and supply the goods and services any frontier outpost depends on. A large part of the population is made up of elves and dwarves, and because humans and nonhumans work side by side every day, relations between them are noticeably calmer here than inside Loredo’s palisade.
In The Witcher 2
Lobinden is part of the Chapter 1 hub, and Geralt passes through it whenever he heads out of Flotsam toward the forests. The village is represented by its mayor, Chorab, who plays a part in Troll Trouble. While the commandant’s office has put a bounty on the troll living under the ruined bridge, Chorab would rather see the creature helped, since the troll used to keep the bridge in repair. If Geralt takes the kinder route, the trail of the men who killed the troll’s wife leads to the Lobinden cemetery, where the bandit Dmitri is hiding with his lackeys. Chorab pays for the troll’s peace, and a little haggling raises his reward from 100 to 200 orens.
Good to know
- Defeating Dmitri at the Lobinden cemetery gives a key to the bandits’ hideout, which holds a Superb Cutlass, some orens, a diagram and a Sun Rune.
- Helping the troll rather than killing him also earns the diagram for Hunter’s Armor once you give him his wife’s head.
