Flotsam is a isolated, heavily fortified logging and trading outpost situated deep within the dense, primordial forests along the banks of the Pontar River. Serving as the primary setting for Act 1 of The Witcher 2, the town features heavy timber palisades, a bustling harbor dock, and a central square dominated by execution gallows. The settlement is defined by intense racial hatred between its corrupt human commandant, Bernard Loredo, and the local non-human population, all while being constantly terrorized by a colossal river monster known as the Kayran.
