Flotsam Brothel

The Flotsam Brothel is the house of pleasure in the trading post of Flotsam in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. According to local wisdom, Flotsam has only two attractions worth mentioning: the brothel and the scaffold. Unlike the executions, the brothel keeps regular hours, has a steady staff and offers a reliable range of services, which in a town run by Bernard Loredo counts as a rare kind of stability.

The girls are looked after by Margot, the matron of Flotsam’s prostitutes, who has a room on the lower level of the tavern. Like most people in Flotsam, she has secrets: her notes reveal dealings with the Scoia’tael.

In The Witcher 2

Three of the working girls, Julia, Arnesse and Miriana, offer their services for 100 orens each. The brothel matters more to the main story, though, than to Geralt’s love life. During Where is Triss Merigold?, after Letho has disappeared with Triss, a peephole in Síle de Tansarville’s room in the tavern leads Geralt to Margot. She saw Triss and Cedric, and she names Philippa Eilhart as Síle’s contact. What exactly Geralt hears depends on his path: on Iorveth‘s path, Margot says that her colleague Derae was killed in the chaos; on Roche‘s path, Derae is alive and tells Geralt herself what she saw through the peephole.

On Roche’s path, the story has a grim coda in Margot’s Disappearance. Derae reports that Margot went to her room and never came out. Geralt finds her hanged, with Dandelion left to wonder why, and the letter and notes she left behind explain what drove her to it.

Good to know

• Margot’s Disappearance is only available on Roche’s path and gives no experience points, but it fills in Margot’s story.
• The tavern’s lower level is also where the Flotsam minigames happen: fistfights, dice poker and arm wrestling.
