Ciaran
Ciaran is an elf in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, adjutant and right-hand man to the Scoia’tael commander Iorveth. When Geralt meets him in Chapter I he is a prisoner of Bernard Loredo, held below deck on the prison barge in Flotsam. Badly wounded as he is, he keeps the pride and defiance of the Aen Seidhe.
In The Witcher 2
Triss Merigold learns that Ciaran is among Loredo’s prisoners, and she and Geralt visit the barge as part of The Assassins of Kings. Getting aboard depends on earlier choices: Triss can pose as a healer, or Geralt can explain who Ciaran is or lean on the guards, depending on whether he accepted Loredo’s offer in Indecent Proposal. Ciaran is so badly hurt that it takes Triss’s spell and Geralt’s Axii Sign together to bring him round long enough to talk.
What he says moves the story forward. The kingslayer betrayed the Scoia’tael, and his name is Letho. Ciaran also mentions the roses of remembrance that grow near the elven ruins, which starts The Rose of Remembrance, and the encounter triggers a vision for Geralt of the Wild Hunt taking Yennefer.
