Gridley
Gridley is a friend of Rupert who appears in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. Geralt finds him in a dangerous state among gloomy ruins in the wilderness and learns what drove him to take such risks.
During the war Gridley was stationed in the area, and his unit tortured a Nilfgaardian soldier to death while trying to find a treasure. Years later, the dead man’s wraith used its power to compel Gridley and Rupert to return to the scene of the crime.
Geralt can choose not to stop the wraith, in which case Gridley shares Rupert’s fate and pays for his crimes. Alternatively, Geralt is swept up in other events and never learns how the story of the two men ends.
