Jean-Pierre

A would-be Royal Huntsman who buys wolf pelts in the Swamp Forest and later runs the Bruxa Contract in Old Vizima.

Jean-Pierre is a man with ambitions in The Witcher. He wants to be appointed Royal Huntsman, and if that does not work out, he is ready to make a living as a mercenary instead. Geralt deals with him twice, in very different parts of Vizima.

In The Witcher

In Act II he waits at the landing in the Swamp Forest and buys wolf pelts in The Wolf Contract. He wants ten of them, hoping the haul will earn him the huntsman’s post, and pays 150 orens. He also tells Geralt a story about Leo Bonhart, a man who used to kill witchers.

In Act V Geralt meets him again in Old Vizima, by the breach in the wall. He is behind The Bruxa Contract, and he is also the man Geralt reports to in Mud and Velvet, handing over the receipts collected from the “cousins” hiding in the swamp. Come back with fewer receipts than expected and he wants the unspent money back; refuse, and he attacks.

Good to know

  • The cave on the south side of the Swamp Forest is full of wolves, which makes it the easiest place to collect pelts.
  • Killing Jean-Pierre before finishing The Bruxa Contract breaks the contract.
