John Natalis

John Natalis is the Constable of Temeria in The Witcher 2 who serves as regent after Foltest’s death and represents Temeria at Loc Muinne.

In The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, John Natalis is the Constable of Temeria and a renowned veteran of the last war against Nilfgaard. At the Battle of Brenna he led the combined Northern armies against an enemy twice their number, contributed greatly to the victory and then pursued the retreating forces until only a handful escaped across the Yaruga. He was richly rewarded, and a square in Vizima is named after him.

Following the death of King Foltest, Natalis becomes the temporary regent of Temeria. His patriotism and soldierly, apolitical character make him a suitable interrex, but the same qualities leave him without backing from the powerful nobility, so he cannot speak for all of Temeria.

At the summit in Loc Muinne he faces his hardest struggle, defending Temeria’s independence. With Foltest’s daughter under his guardianship, he has an opportunity to keep the kingdom sovereign. Depending on Geralt’s investigation into Boussy’s disappearance, Natalis may arrest Baron Kimbolt, rely on Kimbolt’s troops to arrest Count Maravel, or consider the baron innocent.

In The Witcher 3

Natalis does not appear in person in The Witcher 3, but he is a Northern Realms card in Gwent: John Natalis is a 10-strength Close Combat hero, won in A Dangerous Game or looted from the warden during The Great Escape.
