Drahim Castle

Drahim Castle is a ruined stronghold south of Novigrad, standing over the fields of the Grassy Knoll southwest of Cunny of the Goose. What is left are roofless walls, a broken tower that can still be climbed, overgrown courtyards and a cellar reached through the rubble. Seen across the wheat in the afternoon sun it is almost romantic. Up close, with the wind moving through the empty windows, it is mostly just eerie.

In its glory years the castle was home to the Redanian Moskovitz of the Sea Cats dynasty, patrons of the arts and admirers of elven culture. When the last of the line, Prince Adrien, took his own life, the castle passed to the Redanian crown, and from there it slid quietly into ruin.

In The Witcher 3

The fields around the castle are haunted by the White Lady, a noonwraith. Four drunken men came out here one night convinced they could put an end to her, and the contract begins with three of their bodies around a cold campfire near the walls. The fourth victim’s tracks lead up to the castle and a blood trail into the cellar, where a ghoul may be feeding. Helma, who posted the contract in Farcorners, explains that the ghost is Luzi, a young woman who killed herself on her wedding day rather than marry the much older man her parents had chosen. Her dagger is the bait that draws the noonwraith out at the campfire. The contract can also start by climbing to the top of the tower and examining the floor.

If you stumble on the bodies or the tower before seeing the notice, the contract still starts: Geralt’s medallion picks up the presence of something unnatural, and the investigation runs in a slightly different order. Either way the clues end in the same place, the campfire below the walls where Luzi’s dagger brings her back one last time. There is even an examination point on top of one of the ruined walls outside the tower, reachable with a bit of climbing, though Geralt has nothing to say about it once he gets there.

The ruins also hide Prince Adrien’s journal and the diagram for the Feline steel sword, part of the Cat School gear hunt, so witchers who like the light armor style have two reasons to visit.

Quests at Drahim Castle

Good to know

  • Drahim Castle is a fast travel signpost.
  • Bring specter oil and Yrden for the White Lady, and kill her copies quickly before they heal her. Her reward includes the silver sword Deithwen.

Outside the game: Drahim also appears in the comic Curse of Crows, and its name and history were likely inspired by the real Drahim Castle in Poland.
