Gildorf
Gildorf is Novigrad’s well-to-do quarter, spread across the north of the city centre and joined to Temple Isle by St. Gregory’s Bridge. The streets here are cleaner and quieter than anywhere else inside the walls, lined with grand stone townhouses, walled gardens and private villas, and the people strolling them wear silk rather than sackcloth. Look closer, though, and you will spot Temple Guards and witch hunters on every other corner, because in Gildorf the rich pay to sleep soundly.
The free city’s social elite live here: nobles, wealthy merchants, prosperous townsfolk and foreign ambassadors. The district has a well, a small market with stalls, two shops, a morgue, a bathhouse fed by thermal water and the finest brothel in town, plus four separate entrances to the sewers for anyone who prefers to travel unseen.
In The Witcher 3
Some of the most important buildings in the Novigrad storyline stand in Gildorf:
- Passiflora – the city’s most elegant brothel, venue of the High Stakes Gwent tournament.
- Dijkstra’s Bathhouse – the steamy headquarters of Sigismund Dijkstra, alias Sigi Reuven, just south of the bridge.
- Var Attre Villa – home of the Nilfgaardian ambassador’s family, including the sword-loving twins Rosa var Attre and Edna.
- Baroness la Valette’s Villa – the Novigrad residence of Maria Louisa La Valette.
- Novigrad Morgue – a stop on the trail of a serial killer in Carnal Sins.
- A shop south of the Passiflora – its merchant sells artifacts that once belonged to the mage Aeramas and plays Gwent.
In Broken Flowers, Geralt works his way through Dandelion’s lovers, and two of the leads take him into Gildorf: Rosa at the var Attre villa, who insists on a sparring match first, and the la Valette estate, where he asks about Molly. Rosa’s lessons can continue in Fencing Lessons. Later, Ciri can be found at the Gildorf market during the day when she wants Geralt’s help in Payback.

Good to know
St. Gregory’s Bridge is the district’s fast travel signpost. Gildorf also has its own notice board, and a steel sword in the game, the Gildorf sword, is named after the district.
