The Play’s the Thing is a main quest in Novigrad and easily one of the most charming in The Witcher 3. Geralt knows that Ciri, Dandelion and the doppler Dudu got into trouble together, and that Dudu is the easiest of the three to find. The problem is that a doppler can look like anyone, and Dudu is hiding in some unknown shape.
Priscilla’s plan
Geralt turns to Priscilla, and she comes up with a clever solution. Dudu used to be part of Madame Irina’s mummers’ troupe, so a play that only his old friends could have written would send him a clear message: it is safe to come out. Priscilla writes the script, gathers actors and books the theatre in the Butcher’s Yard, and Geralt helps with the preparations, from finding a missing actor to handing out invitations around the city.
Opening night
When the performance starts, one of the actors is missing, and Geralt has to step in on stage. Players pick his lines as he goes, and the audience reaction depends on how well he does. It is not the finest show the Butcher’s Yard has ever seen, but it works. Dudu recognises the message and reveals himself, and he has news about Dandelion, who has been taken by the Temple Guard and is due to be moved to a prison for execution.
