Geralt is getting another book. Speaking at the Copernicon fantasy festival in Toruń, Poland, in September 2026, Andrzej Sapkowski said that his next Witcher novel should be ready by the end of 2027. It would be his first new Witcher story since Crossroads of Ravens, and once again Geralt of Rivia will be the main character. The news was first reported in Polish by GRYOnline.pl, based on a report from the fan page Wiedźminlandia, and we have waited for the dust to settle before writing it up.
What Sapkowski said
The key line is simple: the new Witcher book should be finished by the end of 2027. Sapkowski framed it as a target, not a promise, so the timeline could still move. That also means 2027 is when the writing should be done, not necessarily when the book reaches shops. A Polish release would come first, and English readers have usually waited longer for a translation.
He also had a short answer for fans hoping for a novel told from Yennefer of Vengerberg‘s point of view. According to the reports, he said he did not see the point of one. So for now, the Witcher books stay Geralt’s story.
What we don’t know yet
Quite a lot. There is no title, no plot description and no word on when in Geralt’s life the story takes place. It is tempting to guess that it picks up where Crossroads of Ravens left off, but Sapkowski has not said so, and the Polish reports are clear that this is speculation. There is also no publisher announcement or English release plan yet.
You may have seen a viral post claiming the new book would be “based on” the games. That is not something Sapkowski said. It is an old fandom joke about the books being based on the video games, and nothing in the original report supports it.
Catching up: Crossroads of Ravens
The most recent book in the series is Crossroads of Ravens, which came out in Polish at the end of November 2024 and in English on September 30, 2025, translated by David French (Gollancz in the UK, Orbit in the US). It goes back to Geralt at eighteen, fresh out of Kaer Morhen and guided by the veteran witcher Preston Holt, as he takes his first uncertain steps on the Path. If the new book does continue that story, now is a good time to read it.

Where it fits
Sapkowski finished the main saga with The Lady of the Lake and has since returned to the Continent twice with standalone stories: Season of Storms and Crossroads of Ravens.
