Less than a week after Patch 5.01, PlayStation players have another update to download. CD Projekt Red community director Marcin Momot announced on X that Hotfix 5.01b for The Witcher 3 Remastered is now live on PS5 and PS5 Pro. German outlet Play3 reported the hotfix on October 13, 2026.
What the hotfix does
According to Momot, the hotfix should bring various stability improvements to both PS5 consoles. That is the full official description: CD Projekt Red has not published a detailed changelog for 5.01b, so we do not know exactly which crashes or issues it targets. Players had kept reporting stutter and crashes on PS5 after Patch 5.01, and the hotfix is widely seen as a response to that feedback, but the studio has not confirmed specifics.
The hotfix builds on Patch 5.01, which added Bloom, Light Shafts and Depth of Field options on console, fixed PS5 settings resetting at every start and corrected wrong frame rate limits on the base PS5. It is a PS5-only update; PC and Xbox Series X|S players do not get anything new this time.
Switch 2 patch: still in the works
Switch 2 owners are still waiting for their version of Patch 5.01. In the same post, Momot said it is still in development and should arrive as soon as possible, and thanked players for their patience. CD Projekt Red has said earlier that the Switch 2 update aims to bring the global changes from 5.01 to that version and to improve image clarity and sharpness, especially the soft picture in handheld mode. No release date has been given.
What it means if you are playing now
If you play on PS5 or PS5 Pro, install the update before your next session. While the patches roll in, there is plenty to plan for Geralt: try a new setup in our Witcher 3 Build Planner or browse Community Builds, check which oils and Signs to use in Monster Weaknesses, or build a deck for the tavern tables with the Gwent Deck Builder. New players can start with the Witcher 3 Remastered Beginner’s Guide, and the Witcher 3 Hub collects everything else. For earlier fixes, see Hotfix 5.00c. We will cover the Switch 2 patch when it is released.
