Ugly Baby is the umbrella main quest that opens Act II of The Witcher 3. Every trail in Velen, Novigrad and Skellige has pointed to one strange little creature: Uma, the cursed being who travelled with Ciri and who now lives at Crow’s Perch, where the Baron’s men use him as their jester. Geralt takes him away from there, determined to lift his curse with Yennefer’s help.
A report to the Emperor
First, though, Emhyr has run out of patience and wants a report. Geralt presents Uma at the Royal Palace in Vizima, which is not quite what the Emperor had in mind. Still, Emhyr recognises the creature as a real lead and pays Geralt part of the promised reward, the amount depending on how things went so far.
Back to Kaer Morhen
Geralt then takes Uma to Kaer Morhen, where Vesemir, Eskel, Lambert and Yennefer are waiting. Lifting the curse will take preparation, and the quest branches into several sub-quests: Disturbance, To Bait a Forktail…, The Final Trial, No Place Like Home and finally Va Fail, Elaine. Together they make up one of the best stretches of the game, a homecoming full of old friends, bickering witchers and a very important secret waiting inside Uma.
