Overview
Burlap is the New Stripe is the Blood and Wine main quest that follows Tesham Mutna when Syanna dies. Anna Henrietta blames Geralt for her sister’s death and has him locked up in Toussaint Prison while she decides his punishment.
Life behind bars
A fellow inmate, Handsome Jacques, introduces himself as the man who can get things for other prisoners. A loose brick in the wall behind him starts the side quest The Perks of Being a Jailbird. Jacques then leads Geralt to the laundry, where he gathers dirty clothes and soap. When Geralt picks up the washing stick, a few old acquaintances he helped put behind bars show up, eager for revenge. They attack no matter what. Axii at a high enough level can turn one of them, leaving only two to fight.
Freedom
A week passes. Geralt is taken to watch an execution in the courtyard and then brought to Damien de la Tour, who grudgingly tells him that he is free to go. Dandelion has talked the duchess round. She still never wants to see Geralt again, but he keeps Corvo Bianco. If he fought Dettlaff, he also receives part of his reward; if he let Dettlaff go, he gets nothing. His belongings wait in a chest between the two prison gates.
The fifth victim
Outside, Regis shares his suspicion that Syanna planned a fifth murder. If Geralt looks into it, the trail runs from a bootblack in Beauclair to a shelter, where a beggar hands over the last letter. Geralt can take the news to Anna Henrietta, who angrily denies it, or simply go for a drink with Regis. The story ends in Be It Ever So Humble….
