Rectoress of Aretuza and member of the Lodge of Sorceresses, captured by Radovid’s witch hunters in Novigrad.

Margarita Laux-Antille, called Rita by her friends, is a powerful sorceress and rectoress of Aretuza, the school for young sorceresses on Thanedd. Tall, fair-haired and fond of a green dress with a daring neckline, she is also a member of the Lodge of Sorceresses and co-author, with Tissaia de Vries, of a well-known compendium on curses.

In the books

Margarita joins the Lodge in Baptism of Fire and takes part in its schemes to control the fate of the North and of Ciri.

In The Witcher 2 and 3

After the massacre at Loc Muinne, the Northern members of the Lodge are accused of murdering kings, and Margarita goes into hiding. Fearing the witch hunters would soon come for Aretuza, she fled to Novigrad with her students, hoping to join Triss‘s escape of mages to Kovir. They were caught. Her pupils were burned one by one while Radovid saved her for last. She stays silent under torture, and Geralt and Yennefer rescue her before her execution, after which she lends her magic to the fight against the Wild Hunt in Battle Preparations.
