Demavend
Demavend, son of Virfuril, was the king of Aedirn, a realm that suffered heavily in the last war with Nilfgaard. He is mentioned in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings as one of the northern monarchs who have died before the story’s events.
Demavend favoured authoritarian rule and was known for his dislike of nonhumans. He took harsh measures against the Scoia’tael, and their attacks on his own subjects gave him a pretext to send the punitive expeditions he enjoyed launching into the Dol Blathanna foothills. In addition, he imprisoned and tortured agitators and street preachers who meddled in his politics.
Because of this, many people wished for his death. Even so, his subjects were taken aback when he was killed, since it is rare for a king to die by bloodshed in his own palace.
