Adam
Adam is a young villager in Murky Waters, the lakeside village of Act IV in The Witcher. He is quietly in love with Alina, the village chief’s daughter, and spends his time composing a poem for her. The trouble is that Alina is engaged to Julian, a wealthy merchant from Kovir.
In The Witcher
Adam’s story plays out in the main quest The Heat of the Day. Alina meets Adam in secret in the raspberry patch in the Fields, but then she goes missing. While searching for her at Julian’s request, Geralt sees Adam stab her sister Celina to death. Celina, jealous because she loved Julian herself, had caused Alina’s death, and Adam took his revenge. Geralt can report Adam to Julian or keep quiet, which decides whether Adam is arrested.
Alina now haunts the raspberry patch as a noonwraith, unaware that she is dead. To free her, someone has to reach her with words: either Dandelion with a poem, or Adam himself. Which route opens depends on what Geralt did with Abigail back in Act I. If he let the mob have her, the healer explains that only a poet or the dead can speak with Alina, and Adam takes his own life at the campfire north of the raspberry patch so that he can be with her.
