Mavrick
Mavrick is a Kaedweni soldier in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings who has become the laughing-stock of King Henselt’s camp after soiling himself in public. The cause was not army food or dysentery: one dreadful night he met a terrifying spectre, which told him that his conscience was as dirty as his underclothes.
In The Witcher 2
In Chapter 2 on Roche’s path, Geralt finds Mavrick being pushed around by his fellow soldiers, which starts Little Sisters. Mavrick claims spectres have haunted him ever since he saw one on the beach. With help from Liva, Geralt learns about Malget, a healer whose three children were murdered and who then drowned himself.
At night the spirits on the beach accuse Mavrick of killing the children. Mavrick denies it and claims Malget dabbled in blood magic. Geralt can side with the spectres or hear the soldier out, and only by backing Mavrick does the full, grim story of what happened to the family come out.
