Midcopse is a small, weather-beaten village in western Velen, a huddle of wooden houses gathered around a stone well in a muddy central square. A blacksmith works at the edge of the settlement, a notice board carries the latest complaints and job offers, and beyond the last huts the fields roll off toward thin woodland. Nothing here has been painted in years, and the people wandering around look used to bad news.

In the game, the village is best known for what haunts it. The ghost of a murdered local woman, called Jenny o’ the Woods, roams the fields to the north, and villagers whisper about a hedge witch who lives in a hut to the northeast. Geralt comes here during Hunting a Witch while following Ciri’s trail, and the notice board offers contracts for the surrounding countryside.
