Alvin is a main quest in Act IV of The Witcher, set in the village of Murky Waters by the lake. When Geralt arrives, Dandelion has news: Alvin is here, safe and well, looked after by a local woman named Alina. Dandelion also carries a letter and a dimeritium amulet from whoever Geralt left the boy with earlier, Triss or Shani, meant to keep Alvin’s wild magic in check.
Most of the quest is quiet time with the boy. Alvin still has nightmares, and he wants to know about witchers, destiny and the elves, so Geralt’s answers here shape the kind of advice the boy carries with him. Along the way the trail leads to the Fisher King and Black Tern Island, where the Lady of the Lake hands Geralt the sword Aerondight. The calm does not last: when the Order of the Flaming Rose raids the village, the frightened Alvin teleports away, and Geralt and Dandelion set off for Vizima to look for him.
