The Butcher of Cidaris is a Chapter 2 quest in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. On the way to the camp canteen, Geralt overhears a heated argument between Manfred, an old soldier, and his son Sven. Since the witcher is investigating the conspiracy against King Henselt, he hopes that helping Manfred will earn him useful information in return.
Manfred agrees to share what he knows, but only after Geralt helps Sven. The young man wants to fight Letande Avet, the notorious Butcher of Cidaris, in an arena duel. Because Sven would almost certainly lose on his own, Geralt arranges a two-against-two fight and joins him in the arena against Avet.
Whether or not Sven survives the duel, Manfred keeps his word and tells Geralt what he knows about the conspirators, which ends the quest.
