Farid
Farid is an alchemist in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings who travels with his colleague Gaspar. The pair are scholars rather than fighters, and their curiosity eventually leads them somewhere far more dangerous than they can handle.
In The Witcher 2
Geralt first meets the two of them in Flotsam, where they try to talk the witcher into testing a potion for them, an experiment on witcher physiology whose results would only show after many years.
They turn up again in Chapter 3 in Loc Muinne, where they are searching the caverns beneath the city for the hidden laboratory of the sorcerer Dearhenna. The mercenaries they hired have failed, so Geralt joins the expedition in The Secrets of Loc Muinne. It ends badly: Dearhenna’s laboratory is protected by riddle traps, and Farid dies in one of them. The notes Geralt gathers there lead on to Dearhenna’s Journal and A Tome Truly Rare, which reveal that the real employer behind the expedition was Cynthia.
