New Narakort
The New Narakort is an inn in Vizima’s Trade Quarter and the social centre of Chapter III of The Witcher. The ground floor is an ordinary tavern full of drinkers, storytellers and people looking for a witcher, while the upper floor is reserved for the kind of guests who do not mix with the crowd downstairs. A guard keeps commoners off the stairs during the day.
Over the course of the chapter, the inn sees a royal party, a concert, a drinking contest or two and finally a bloodbath, so it pays to drop in often.
In The Witcher
The upper floor hosts A Posh Reception, a party thrown by the merchant Declan Leuvaarden. Triss brings Geralt along, and the guests include Princess Adda, Thaler, the burgomaster Velerad, Count de Wett and the drinker Erkyn Blunt. Geralt spends the evening fetching vodka for Velerad, stealing a note for Thaler and finding Adda the catoblepas meat she craves. After the party, Leuvaarden hands out Following the Thread, Lock and Key and Reaping Time, all aimed at Salamandra’s fisstech trade.
Dandelion also spends the chapter here. He only gives Dandelion’s Lute after Geralt beats him in a drinking game, and once his lute is back he performs for the guests in the evenings. The knight Patrick de Weyze sits downstairs too and hires Geralt in Blue Eyes to find his sister, whom he believes a vampire has taken.
The inn’s last big scene comes in The Unforgiven. Triss arranges a meeting here, but Salamandra warriors are waiting downstairs. Whether Vincent Meis joins the fight, as a man or as a werewolf, depends on how Geralt handled him earlier. Upstairs, Count de Wett bursts in with the king’s men, and Triss teleports Geralt straight into Salamandra’s last hideout.

Good to know

- For a bribe, the innkeeper shares Salamandra gossip, including the password “thorn”, which is useful in Following the Thread.
- Beat Erkyn Blunt in a drinking game and he gives you the House of the Night signet ring, which gets you past the brothel’s bodyguard and lowers a price in Blue Eyes.
- The waitress rewards a patient listener with the Devil’s Puffball formula or Wives’ Tears.
