Fyke Island sits in the middle of Lake Wyndamer in Velen, a small patch of land dominated by a lone tower that rises above the water. Fishermen steer well clear of it. The shore is thick with drowners, ghouls and rotfiends, and inside the tower sickly green haze marks the spots where the dead still linger.

The island’s story is one of the grimmest in Velen. Lord Vserad, the man who once held Crow’s Perch, fled here with his court when the Nilfgaardian armies began to march. While famine spread across the countryside, he feasted, and when hungry villagers came to beg for food he is said to have poisoned them instead. Then one day a host of mice poured into the tower and devoured him, his court and his resident mage, Alexander. The curse has hung over the island ever since, and the story borrows from the old Polish legend of the Mice Tower.

In the game, Fyke Island is the setting of the secondary quest A Towerful of Mice, which Keira Metz sends Geralt on after they work together in the elven ruins. Armed with her magic lamp, Geralt sails out in her boat, uncovers what happened to the court through the memories of the dead, and meets the ghost of a girl named Anabelle and her lover Graham. His choices decide how the curse is lifted, and the aftermath ties the island to the Pellar’s ritual in Forefather’s Eve.
