Keira Metz’s cottage is a modest hideaway in the wilds of Velen, close enough to the water that she keeps a boat moored nearby. From the outside it looks like just another peasant’s hut, and that is exactly the point: this is where a fugitive sorceress of the Lodge waits out the wars, far from the Redanian and Nilfgaardian soldiers who would like a word. Inside, Keira has made herself at home among books, herbs and reagents, and she has an opinion about everything.

Geralt first meets Keira in Hunting a Witch and follows her into the elven ruins in Wandering in the Dark. Afterwards she invites him back to her cottage, where the story turns to the cursed Fyke Isle and the quest A Towerful of Mice. She also gives him the book The Ladies of the Wood, which sends him deeper into Crookback Bog.
